Ashram Newsletter - Janmashtami, 2020

August 10, 2020

Dear Friends,

We will be celebrating Lord Krishna's birthday (Janmashtami) at the Ashram this Tuesday at 8am in the morning with chanting and puja. Krishna is the God of compassion, tenderness, and love and we will be reciting the names of everyone that requests at His feet that morning asking for His blessings. If you would like to be included, just let us know. You can email us at info@babajiashram.org. No donation is necessary for this. We will also be remembering the names of all donors so if you would like to donate you can click here.

As the temple is still closed to visitors, the puja and chanting will be live-streamed at https://www.facebook.com/ramloti.wood as well as recorded for later viewing on YouTube at Ramloti Wood channel. We want to keep connected and please let us know what else we could put on-line for you.

This pandemic is definitely going on longer than we expected and we want to reach out with prayers, love, and support to all who have been adversely effected by it. To those that have lost loved ones, please be assured that your names are at the feet of the Divine Mother and Baba and continually in our prayers.

Shri Babaji spoke about these times and the importance of our continued and intensified spiritual practice. These words from Raghuvir Charan Chaudary Haidakhandi's last post speak to this well:

"Summertime in the northern hemisphere is holiday time for many. After half a year of fear and loathing about the virus and governments trying to curb it is so good to relax a bit. Just a bit because it is still everyday governing the news and fears of a second wave seems already becoming a reality in some places. For those who work with astrology know that already for this whole year we have been passing through some very challenging constellations. We may be moving from one governing daring constellation to the next but these challenging times are not over yet. Those who have a strong practice going are less influences by these forces but certainly are also touched by what is happening around them. What to do, how to be? PRACTICE !!! Babaji has warned us often about the perilous time to come and told us to practice our Sadhana.

"A saint from south India, Amma Karunamayi launched a program particularly for this period to do a large number of Om Namah Shivaya Japa on a daily bases to curb the negative influences with the support of Lord Shiva. Something beautiful that is just up our alley. We Babaji devotees may not be so well organized as an organization to count and collect a worldwide Japan wave of Om Namah Shivaya but we are devotees and do Japa. We all can see that turmoil is far from over and that there is really no place to run but to hold on to the feet of the Divine. I would like to suggest that we are all increasing our Japa and other spiritual practices, do some in the evening also, calling the Divine on our earthy plane. How can our compassionate Babaji refuse His devotees. Take more often some time out of whatever it is we fill our day with and repeat the name of the Divine in full concentration with a loving heart. It takes self discipline and determination to do it also when your are not in the mood, you are tired or not well etc. but that is where it will be more powerful. Our mind will come up with many reasons to drop such discipline but there is one solid reason that governs them all to continue, I support the Divine for the well being of humanity, 'Om Namah Shivaya'."

We are grateful for all of your support and love. May Shri Babaji's and the Divine Mother's Blessings be abundant in your lives. We are so blessed to have Shri Babaji, the Divine Mother, and loving Teachers in our lives watching over, guiding, and protecting us.

In deep deep gratitude and love to you all,

Ramloti

Srimad Devi Bhagavatam Study Group

We are now offering daily discourses on the Srimad Devi Bhagavatam translated (in two volumes) by Dr. Pushpendra Kumar. We post that daily on Facebook and can be found at least by the afternoon, on YouTube on the Ramloti Wood channel. To see earlier ones, click on the library to view past Srimad Devi discourses.

We began our first book study group last Friday afternoon at 2pm MT on Zoom. It was a very inspirational time and if you would like to be included in our weekly Friday group and receive the Zoom link, please email us at info@babajiashram.org.

This is a very big book that Shri Shastriji reads each day of Spring and Fall Navratri. We may only get through a portion of it since it is over 1,500 pages long. Participants, however, will not need to purchase the book (available on Amazon) since the daily discourses that we will be discussing will be on YouTube on the Ramloti Wood Channel and posted on facebook. We did this study group over 15 years ago and it was an amazing time together to deepen our understanding and experience of this beautiful purana on the Divine Mother. Some of the participants from those days will be joining us again. If you have any questions, please feel free to email or call at 719-256-4108. Jai Ma!

Ceremonies and Schedule

The next new-moon fire ceremony will be on Tuesday, August 18 and the next  full-moon is on Tuesday, September 1. These will both be live-streamed on Facebook (Haidakhandi Universal Ashram page) at 10am MT as the Ashram is still not open to visitors. If you do not do Facebook, the fire ceremony and chanting will be posted on YouTube on Ramloti Wood channel by 12 noon on the day of the ceremony.

If you would like to participate by sponsoring a fire ceremony or a bhandara (feast) we would be happy to send you a blessed item from the fire ceremony if you request. They are:

$27 sponsorship - Copper, brass, nickel Om Namah Shivaya bracelet

$54 sponsorship - Rudraksha, Rosewood, or Tulsi Mala

$108 sponsorship - Rose Quartz Mala or a copper, silver, brass Om Haidakhandi bracelet

(Click here to go to our donate link to sponsor a fire or bhandara.)

A Note about Fundraising Buttons

You will normally see either a link to our GofundMe Campaign or a fundraising button on most of our posts and live-streams. Please do not think that this is to oblige anyone to give if they have already donated or are not able to do so. It is simply that different people see these posts all the time and some would like to give to the support of the Ashram and the easier it is, the more likely they are to follow through. You can think of them as donation boxes when you enter the temple or earthship. Thank you for your understanding and continued support and may Shri Babaji and the Divine Mother fill your lives with blessings and protection.

We Still Have Our GoFundMe Campaign Going. We Really Appreciate and Need the Support During this Time of Closure.

With the Ashram, Temple, and Shop remaining closed to all visitors until further notice, our major source of funding has been cut off. With the upswing in coronavirus cases around the country, it feels unwise and irresponsible to try to safely accomodate the hundreds of visitors that come here with proper safe distancing and sanitation protocol. We hope you understand and support our concern for the health of everyone involved. As most of you know, the visitors and shoppers coming to the Ashram are a major part of our revenue to pay the bills at the Ashram. Since we have been closed now for almost 5 months, we have been counting on people donating through different modalities. The GoFundMe Campaign has been a major source of funding and we are so tremendously grateful. If you are able to donate, even a small amount, it all means a great deal to us and the truth is if everyone receiving this newsletter donated $25, we would be well supported. Please click here to donate to this fund. We also deeply appreciate your prayers and caring thoughts.

Karma Yoga at the Ashram

As this is a short, last-minute newsletter, we do not have photos of our karma yoga but please know it goes on continuously to keep Baba and Mother's home in the best of shape. We will have plenty of photos next time. In the meantime, we ask each of you to look into your hearts and see what this Ashram means to you and to please donate as you are able. You may donate by clicking here and scrolling down (you can even set up a monthly tithe). We deeply appreciate all of you that do tithe monthly to the Ashram. You can also send a check (made out to HUA) to P.O. Box 9, Crestone CO, 81131. We are so deeply grateful for your support, love, and prayers. Bhole Baba Ki Jai
