I am sending a second newsletter this month because I wanted to keep you updated on the status of the Haidakhan Ashram in India, our Ashram here, and the latest outreach programs we are planning.
I just spoke with Dr. Arvind Lal, Chairman on the Haidakhan Samaj in New Delhi, India. He said that the Ashram in Haidakhan is still closed to foreign visitors and will remain that way for some time. He is inviting people for Fall Navratri at the end of October hoping that it will be able to be celebrated there.
The Ashram, Temple, and Shop here in Crestone will remain closed to all visitors until further notice as well. With the upswing in Coronavirus cases here in the valley, it feels highly unlikely that we could handle the hundreds of visitors that come here on these upcoming three-day weekends and summer in general with proper safe distancing and sanitation protocol. We hope you understand and support our concern for the health of everyone involved.
We are going to implement a meditation time in front of our Divine Mother and Shri Babaji three days a week. This will begin tomorrow, Thursday at 3pm MT and will be live-streamed on the Haidakhandi Universal Ashram facebook Page. We will begin with an inspirational reading and then leave the video focused for 20 minutes of silence on the murtis. We will end with an inspirational reading as well. We will also do this on Saturdays, and Mondays. For those that do not do Facebook, we will post it on YouTube at Ramloti Wood Page by 5pm MT that day. We hope that this helps people keep connected and inspired during this challenging time.
We will also be offering a simple puja instruction on Zoom on Friday, May 29 at 3pm and it will go on about 1.5 to 2 hours. If you wish to participate in this please send your email address to email@example.com.
We will continue to live-stream our new-moon and full-moon fire ceremonies. At this time, because we are in an extreme fire ban, we are not allowed to do them outside, so they will be indoors. We will be live-streaming the new-moon fire ceremony at 10:08am MT this Friday, May 22 on the Haidakhandi Universal Ashram facebook page. We will also post it on YouTube at Ramloti Wood Page by noon that day.
We have heard from several people that they are anxious to come to the temple and have darshan (or be in the presence of) the Divine Mother and Shri Babaji. We hope the meditations help with this longing.
Remembering that Babaji said the following may also be reassuring: "I extend My blessings on this sacred occasion to every devotee of the Lord, wherever he may be. Those physically distant from here should not think they are far away--they are equally close to Me. Though they may be thousands of miles away, they can still reach Me by practicing devotion."
We are gratefully all well and being taken care of by Baba and Mother. Despite being closed to visitors, it is busier than ever here and the good news is that we are in touch with thousands of people from all over the world by this new means of reaching out. It is a great joy.
We have also heard from folks that attended last month's havan instruction workshop that they have been doing them in their home. We are grateful it has been helpful and want to remind everyone it is now available on our website at https://www.babajiashram.org/fire-ceremony. We also carry all of the items you might need for a fire ceremony or puja under the devotional item section in our Maha Lakshmi Shop.
As I said, I am grateful to Shri Babaji and the Divine Mother for their love and protection during this time. It is an uncertain time for many of us but all of your love and support and this ever-deepening connection to the Divine is also making it a time of deep growth and peace.
In deep deep gratitude and love to you all,
Ceremonies and Schedule
The new-moon fire ceremony is on this Friday, May 22 and the next full-moon fire ceremony is on Friday, June 5. These will both be live-streamed on Facebook (Haidakhandi Universal Ashram page) at 10amMT as the Ashram is still not open to visitors. If you do not do Facebook, the fire ceremony and chanting will be posted on YouTube on Ramloti Wood channel by 12 noon on the day of the ceremony.
The temple and The Maha Lakshmi Shop are also closed to visitors until further notice. We are happy to help you via phone (719-256-4108) or email (firstname.lastname@example.org) at the Maha Lakshmi Shop and send you photos of the many items that are not on our website. We love to connect with you in this way. We will certainly let you know as the status of the Ashram closure changes.
If you would like to participate by sponsoring a fire ceremony or a bhandara (feast) we would be happy to send you a blessed item from the fire ceremony if you request. They are:
$27 sponsorship - Copper, brass, nickel Om Namah Shivaya bracelet
$54 sponsorship - Rudraksha, Rosewood, or Tulsi Mala
$108 sponsorship - Rose Quartz Mala or a copper, silver, brass Om Haidakhandi bracelet
(Click here to go to our donate link to sponsor a fire or bhandara.)
GoFundMe Campaign Going a Long Way to Help Keep the Ashram Afloat During this Time of Closure.
As most of you know, the visitors and shoppers coming to the Ashram are a major part of our revenue to pay the bills at the Ashram. Since we have been closed now for over 8 weeks, we have been counting on people donating through different modalities. The GoFundMe Campaign has raised almost $7,000 and we are so tremendously grateful. If you are able to donate, even a small amount, it all means a great deal to us and the truth is if everyone receiving this newsletter donated $25, we would be well supported. Please click here to donate to this fund. We also deeply appreciate your prayers and caring thoughts.
A Note about Fundraising Buttons
You will normally see either a link to our GofundMe Campaign or a fundraising button on most of our posts and live-streams. Please do not think that this is to oblige anyone to give if they have already donated or are not able to do so. It is simply that different people see these posts all the time and some would like to give to the support of the Ashram and the easier it is, the more likely they are to follow through. Thank you for your understanding on this.
The Next Long-Time Resident Hermitage is Moving along!
We are progressing well on the hermitage. The doors are now hung, the solar panels are going up, the UV water system is working and more to come. We are grateful to all who have supported the project with funds and prayers, and we will keep you updated on the progress.
We can still use your support of this project. Please donate as you are able. Click here to go to our donate link You can pay with a credit card or Paypal, or you can send a check to HUA at P.O. Box 9, Crestone, CO 81131. Thank you again.
Karma Yoga at the Ashram
Plenty of wonderful karma yoga going on at the Ashram. Some of the projects that have been put off are now coming to fruition; like the cleaning and rehanging of the backdrop and drapes in Mother and Baba's mandir.
Repairing and sewing the saris and kurtas for the Divine Mother and Babaji.
A much need fire preparedness training as the fire season is upon us and after an extremely dry spring, we are at very high risk. Who would have known that our assistant facilities manager, Bill, was also a fire fighter for five years. He showed us how to use the bladder packs, the fire extinguishers, and we went over the emergency plan, evacuation routes, and fire box.
After the meeting he helped fit the guys in their protective clothing, hats, boots, and prepared and sized the bladder packs to fit them.
And there is still fire mitigation going on and clean up of all burnable brush around trees to make the Ashram safer if a wild fire was to come roaring through the grounds.
The garden is looking wonderful and we are happy that the apricot, apple, and plum trees have all blossomed, been pollinated by thousands of bees, and have set fruit. It could be a prolific late summer if the bears and birds leave some for us too!
And oh the lilacs, the perfume, the color, the beauty! Perhaps they will last long enough to make a mala for Babaji at the fire ceremony this Friday. Right on their heels come the irises, what a lovely time of year.
And of course all of the regular service continues in the temple by all of our loving, willing, and able pujaris.
We ask each of you to look into your hearts and see what this Ashram means to you and to please donate as you are able. You may donate by clicking here and scrolling down (you can even set up a monthly tithe). We deeply appreciate all of you that do tithe monthly to the Ashram. You can also send a check (made out to HUA) to P.O. Box 9, Crestone CO, 81131. We are so deeply grateful for your support, love, and prayers. Bhole Baba Ki Jai

Nirmal Sharma shares the significance of the next healing event on May 22nd: "The next event on May 22nd is a new moon and is also Saturn’s (aka Shani) birthday. Hanuman is the overlord of Saturn or Shani. Hanuman Chalisa can fill you with unconquerable courage and strength. He is particularly helpful in overcoming suffering from impact of Saturn. Hanuman saved Shani dev from the captivity of Ravan. Shani has promised not to come near devotees of Hanuman, so there is tradition of praying to Hanuman by singing Hanuman Chalisa on Saturdays. Astrologically during this month of May, three planets are going retrograde. They are Saturn, Jupiter and Venus which will cause major changes and op
